CARRIER OFFERS APU FINANCING PROGRAM ATHENS, Ga., Nov. 8, 2006 - A new program is available to help truck owner/operators and fleets finance purchases of ComfortPro™ Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) from Carrier Transicold, a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). Through Carrier’s extensive network of ComfortPro APU dealers, flexible terms are offered by Lease Corporation of America (LCA) of Troy, Mich., a company that provides a full range of equipment financing solutions for customers of dealers, distributors and manufacturers of essential use business equipment. "APUs are a great way for truckers to reduce idling and emissions while also complying with regulations," said Eduardo Andrade, business manager - Special Products for Carrier Transicold. "We’re supporting them with financing options that ease the initial investment burden so truckers can start reaping the benefits of an APU." Carrier selected LCA as a preferred supplier for our customers for its flexible terms, responsive support and trucking industry experience providing millions of dollars of financing for thousands of APU purchases, according to Andrade. LCA, established in 1988, financed its first APU in 2001. "An APU has a relatively short payback time, but financing the purchase can provide positive cash flow right from the start," Andrade explained. "It’s not unusual for monthly fuelcost savings to more than offset monthly installment payment." The ComfortPro APU is a leading anti-idling solution for the trucking industry, providing air conditioning, heating and household electrical current for a truck sleeper cab, as well as battery charging and truck engine warming. Unique among the growing field of APUs, it offers an all-electric architecture - the award-winning Deltek™ hybrid diesel-electric technology found in Carrier’s Vector™ 1800MT trailer refrigeration units. The ComfortPro APU’s energy source is a 4,000-watt generator driven by a diesel engine. A hermetically sealed electric compressor inside the cabin provides air conditioning. The APU has a 1,000-hour service interval and an industry-leading two-year, 4,000-hour warranty. For more information about financing options for the ComfortPro APU, turn to the experts within the Carrier Transicold APU dealer network, or visit www.trucktrailer.carrier.com. Carrier Transicold provides industry-leading transport temperature control and anti-idling solutions with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, auxiliary power units for heavy-duty trucks and transport air conditioning systems for buses and recreational vehicles. Carrier Transicold is a business unit of Carrier Corp., which is headquartered in Farmington, Conn., and is the world's largest provider of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions with operations in 172 countries. It is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., a diversified company that provides a broad range of high technology products and services to the aerospace and building industries worldwide. |
