CARRIER TRANSICOLD "X-PANDS" DIRECT DRIVE REEFER LINE-UP ATHENS, Ga., July 6, 2005 - Carrier Transicold has introduced the "X" series, a new family of performance-boosting direct drive truck refrigeration units covering a wide range of applications, with some units offering up to 30 percent greater cooling capacity than their predecessors. Designed for large and mid-sized trucks, the variable-speed models 50X and 40X are successors to the Integra 50S and 40S. They have larger condenser and evaporator coils, resulting in much greater cooling capacity, better pull-down and superior temperature recovery from door openings and deliveries. The model 20X is designed specifically for smaller delivery vehicles, including vans. "The 50X and 40X units’ added performance comes in the same size housing with generally the same weight and airflow as the models they replace," said Dave Kiefer, Transicold product manager, Truck Products. "Depending on the temperature set point, the performance boost ranges from15 to 30 percent, which means they handle a wider range of applications and provide better value." With power to cool the largest trucks, the 50X unit delivers 1,250 cfm airflow and provides 17,000 Btu of cooling with a set point of 35°F at 100°F ambient. Recommended for mid-size trucks, the 40X unit delivers airflow of 860 cfm and 15,000 Btu of cooling at a 35°F set point. The smallest direct drive unit offered by Carrier, the model 20X offers better value and lower operating cost for small delivery vehicles that may not need the capacity of a larger unit. The 20X unit is equipped with a condenser-valve-enhanced heat system, a rooftop-mount kit and a refrigerant discharge muffler to reduce noise in the driver’s compartment. It generates airflow of 500 cfm and has a cooling capacity of 7,200 Btu at 35°F at 100°F ambient. The model 20X incorporates the proven reliability of the CAB COMMAND™ microprocessor and dash-mounted control panel. The larger 50X and 40X units use the more powerful CAB COMMAND™ 2 controller, which offers hour-meters and enhanced diagnostics. The 50X and 40X units are also available with several electric standby-operation voltage options. All use environmentally sound R-404A refrigerant, and in addition to cooling offer enhanced hot gas heating. Attractive DuraShell™ composite skins won’t scratch, dent or rust. With a narrow profile for maximum cargo space, the proven SlimLine™ evaporator is used with the X series, providing superior air distribution and uniform load protection. "Trailer customers know that with Carrier’s X-series trailer units, the X stands for a long list of extras including greater capacity, enhanced temperature control, better performance, more value-added features and industry-leading reliability," said Kiefer. "Now that same superior value is being extended to direct drive truck units." Carrier Transicold provides industry-leading transport temperature-control solutions with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and rail cars. Carrier Transicold is part of Carrier Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment. Carrier is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE: UTX), provider of a broad range of high-technology products and support services to the aerospace and building systems industries. |
